About Us
When your child isn’t well, it can feel overwhelming trying to know what to do next. You want clear answers, reassurance, and someone who truly listens. At Just Kids Health, we’re here to guide, support and care for your family every step of the way.
Just Kids Health was founded in 2017 by Stephanie Dowden, who recognised the need for a more supportive, family-centred approach to children’s healthcare in Perth.
Since opening, we’ve supported over 4,500 children and families across Western Australia, many who return to us again and again for trusted, ongoing care.
We know many families feel rushed or unheard in traditional healthcare settings. That’s why we do things differently. We offer longer appointments, take the time to explain things clearly, and support you to feel confident in caring for your child at home. All appointments are provided by Nurse Practitioners - highly trained in children’s health who can diagnose, treat, prescribe and guide your child’s care. Just as importantly, we take the time to truly listen.
Together, our Nurse Practitioners bring over 50 years of experience caring for children across areas including development, behaviour, and Aboriginal health and rural health. There are only a small number of clinics like Just Kids Health in Australia, and it is the only Nurse Practitioner-Led Clinic in WA.
Our Approach
We work in partnership with you, providing the latest information on treatments and options so you can make decisions that best suit your family.
We make personalised health plans for quick, easy, no-fuss care at home. We can speak on your behalf if you are having trouble accessing health services and don't feel like you are being heard.
Sometimes you may need extra time and support - after all being a parent is not always easy. If you are struggling with parenting we can provide support and coaching to help you feel more confident and build better connections with your children.
We are Nurse Practitioners!
Have you heard about Nurse Practitioners? They are expert Registered Nurses who have completed an additional Master's degree and are authorised to work at a higher level by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
Our nurse practitioners can order tests, make referrals, and work in partnership with paediatricians and other specialists. As needed, we can also prescribe and co-manage medications for ADHD as part of shared care. Most of our services are eligible for Medicare rebates.
We are a social enterprise committed to equity. We work to reduce barriers to care by offering flexible, family-centred services and subsidised options for eligible families, so children can get support earlier — not just when things become more complex.
Our nurse practitioners are also experts in children's health.
